Content of placement 

The job of Operations Manager m/f is a very hands-on role for the two properties Arubiana Inn (18 rooms) and Cadushi Apartments (8 apartments) on Aruba. We are looking for someone who lives and breathes hospitality and likes to interact on a social level with guests. The Operations Manager trainee will also be the first point of contact in instructing the housekeeping and front office staff, taking on some financial tasks and instructing the maintenance team to deal with upcoming issues. In addition we expect the Operations Manager trainee to organize small marketing events and gatherings, such as barbecues and movie nights to build a community vibe within the hotel (when allowed due to COVID-19 situation), both offline and online via social media channels.

Main tasks 

  • Daily operations of both properties; Arubiana Inn and Cadushi Apartments
  • Perform check-ins and check-outs of guests where needed and required
  • Take payments of invoices by guests
  • Being the host(ess) for all arriving guests
  • Upsell of any other added value, like breakfast and tours of the island, etc. Act on feedback and any other upcoming issues
  • Perform duty manager tasks, such as floor walks and spot checks
  • Instruction of the housekeeper(s) and spot checks of rooms and public spaces
  • Instruction of the maintenance team by giving tasks and prioritizing issues
  • Implementation of workflows, checklists and SOP’s
  •  Serve breakfast together with staff 
  • Streamlining workflows and procedures, notice and suggest improvements where needed
  •  Give site inspections to potential new guests and clients (sales)
  • Organize community events, such as movie nights, barbecues, yoga, tennis clinic, etc.
  • Take photos and videos for the social media accounts (marketing & social media)
  • Signal opportunities for improvement of the website and third party agents
    (marketing)
  • Make sure that all information on all third party booking channels are correct and updated (sales & marketing)
  • Make sure that all rates are correct and loaded online and onthird party booking
    channels and there is rate parity (revenue management)
  • Signal new opportunities and for the hotel to cut costs and increase revenue
